Sunday, January 28
Today we woke up at 7:00 as usual, and after breakfast we headed to the Training Centre for a Sunday service, as well as the final day with the new friends that we made. We were pleased to see the joy and happiness that the Cuban people demonstrated while they worshiped the Lord. During the service, Sara Dakin, Lilyanna Neposlan, and Samuel Zhang, had the opportunity to share their testimonies with the church group. Not only did they do an excellent job sharing their testimonies, but they were able to stir up the emotions in the congregation. After the service we had to say goodbye to our new friends. During this time many tears were shed from both the Canadians and the Cubans. Although it was sad that we had to say goodbye, the experiences that we had with them will never be forgotten. After we said goodbye, we returned to our hotel, and took a much-needed break for the afternoon.
During this time of rest, we visited the beach again, for a couple hours. The little beach that we went to was extremely fun because of the unique wave patterns that occurred. The beach was shaped like a U, and this caused the waves to come from both sides, as well as from the front. It also provided a great background for many of Zoe’s and Madeleine’s photographs.
Finally, we finished off the night with a number of things. First was worship and prayer, where we spent time talking about the great events that took place through out the last few days. We also talked about some things that we learned from the Cuban people and culture. Then we had supper and followed that with some games on the patio for some, an early sleep for others.
