International Student Program

Welcome to Maranatha Christian Academy, where we’ve been nurturing young minds with Christ-centered education for 40 years. We warmly invite international students to join our vibrant community and experience a top-tier academic program designed to prepare them for university or college.

At Maranatha, we are dedicated to offering an enriched and challenging curriculum for every student. We encourage active classroom participation, diligent work on assignments, and a supportive environment where students can seek help when needed. Respect for one another and for God is at the heart of everything we do.

To enhance the experience, we offer homestay families from our MCA community. This allows international students to fully immerse themselves in the English language and North American culture, practicing English all day long in various settings. Our families welcome international students with love and support, ensuring they feel at home.

Heartfelt Homestay Experiences

“My experience with the homestay family is very good. The family has supported me emotionally and mentally, providing food and a home. They’ve given me more than just a place to stay; I feel they are like a second family who loves me very much, and I am grateful for the home away from my own. I love them!”

A Home Away From Home

“My homestay family supported me by taking me to swimming practice, which is really early in the morning, and to flute lessons. They also take me to Multifood to buy Chinese food every week, and sometimes they are willing to learn how to cook some Chinese dishes from me. The most valuable lesson I gained from my homestay is love. They treat me as their child, they care for me, and make me feel at home. They gave me a sense of belonging in Canada, which helps me participate in local society and school.”

Contact the Admissions Office for up-to-date international tuition and ESL fees. International students are assessed by Maranatha Christian Academy to determine if ESL instruction is required for academic success.

Homestay Program

Upon acceptance to Maranatha, our International Student Coordinator will facilitate a homestay with a Maranatha family.

It’s an enriching opportunity to be immersed into Canadian culture and will help ESL students improve their English. Often, our students stay in touch with the homestay families for years.

Hosting an International Student

“We became a homestay recently, and it has been a rewarding and positive experience for us overall. We have five children, but three of them have moved out on their own, and our house was a little less full than we had been used to. So, when we were asked to consider being a homestay family, we were open to the idea.

Our children all graduated from Maranatha, so we are well acquainted with the school and the programs here. It is a blessing to be able to support our international student in schooling. It is also fun to have a teenager in the house again, along with any school friends that come over.

We are enjoying learning about their culture! We do some cooking together, learning how to make new cultural dishes, and we have opportunities to share about Canadian culture and our traditions as well as our faith.

You can learn a lot from your international student, and you can be for someone else’s child what you would hope for any of your children to receive if they were to leave Canada to go to school.

Why choose Windsor?

Windsor is Canada’s southernmost city. It is in the Great Lakes region across the border from Detroit. Our climate is milder than almost any other city in Canada. We get just enough snow to play. Summers are beautiful. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploring the outdoors.

The Windsor area offers museums, beaches and other attractions. With a Visit Visa to the United States, you can take advantage of the big city amenities in Detroit. Within Canada, we are about four hours from Toronto and Niagara Falls.

Why choose Maranatha?

MCA provides a Christian environment for students wanting to study in Canada. We offer Bible-based values, leadership opportunities, rigorous academics, competitive athletics, a Grade 12 cross-cultural mission trip and ESL classes.

Our Statement of Beliefs/Educational Principals underlies everything we do. Our well-trained Christian staff care about the students’, including their spiritual, physical, social and academic wellbeing.

We have lower teacher to student ratios, a full service science lab, large gym and art studio.

Our Class of 2021 earned $230,000+ in scholarships.

Where do our international graduates go after MCA?

Some choose to return to their home countries, but most study at universities in Canada including the University of Windsor, University of Ottawa, McMaster University, University of Waterloo, Queen’s University, the University of Alberta and St. Clair College.

They have pursued degrees in such areas as Developmental Psychiatry, Commerce, Business, Medicine, English, Education, Computer Science, Math and more.
