Opening Doors Through Language

Learning a second language is an important part of fulfilling our Christian calling to love and serve our neighbour beyond our own small community. Language is the heart expression of a people, a symbol of a people’s identity.

In that light, language study is a means of fostering respect and building community among different cultures around the world, and it enables students to better serve and love others.

Elementary French

French language instruction begins in Senior Kindergarten with a focus on oral language skills, taught in a fun, activity based setting. Students in Grade 1 and 2 expand their skills during 40 minutes per week of French instruction. In Grade 3 to 8, our students receive 120 minutes per week of French instruction, giving them a firm grasp of the French language.

High School French

The French curriculum emphasizes the further development of oral communication, reading, and writing skills. Students will build on and apply their knowledge of French while exploring a variety of themes, such as relationships, trends and careers, examining various issues from a Christian perspective through debates, discussion and writing assignments.
