Mission & History

Mission

In accordance with God’s will and in obedience to His Word, our mission as a Christian community is to work in unity to educate our children in a Bible-based environment that promotes and nurtures excellence in academics, Christian conduct, service for God, knowledge of God and the development of mature Christian youths.

About MCA

Maranatha Christian Academy is located in Windsor, Ont., Canada.
We offer Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 to about 250-300 students every year. Our staff and our families come from many denominations, but what unites us all is our Statement of Beliefs.

As such, all the learning, teaching and discipline are based on Biblical principles. We believe our role is to come alongside parents (the primary spiritual teachers of their children) and their churches in raising up our students to meet their God-given potential. We guide all students in their academic growth and encourage their talents and abilities, while teaching them to view life through the lens of scripture and develop a Christian worldview.

At Maranatha Christian Academy, our students receive an education with a purpose: to learn, to lead and to impact their world for Christ.

History

MCA didn’t start with a desire to create a new school. In fact, in May of 1984, a group of Christian parents met to figure out the logistics of bussing their children to an existing Christian school in Essex County. Just minutes into the meeting, they sensed the Lord had a different idea.

Following His lead, the group concentrated its efforts on establishing a parent-run Christian elementary school right
here in Windsor. In September 1985, Maranatha Christian Academy became a reality.

Our first year of operation was held in a nearby building on Virginia Park Avenue in South Windsor. We were able to offer a Christ-centered quality education to 103 students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8, using Christian textbooks and materials. In the summer of 1992, Maranatha moved its operation to the existing site.

As funds have allowed and with the generosity of our donors, the original building has been renovated and upgraded many times. The gym was completed in the spring of 1997 and the older gym was converted to classrooms. Extra parking was added.

From 1997 through 2002, more classrooms were added along with a new stage in the gym. As well, a second storey was built. We now had a computer lab, science lab, music room, art room and weight room.

In more recent years, we added our north campus and another generous donor has come alongside MCA to renovate the elementary classrooms.

Our high school began in September 1999, and we added one grade per year culminating with our first graduating class in June of 2003.

Our graduates are now spread out around the world, building their lives on the foundation of their Christian education that started right here at Maranatha.

The Lord has smiled upon us and we give thanks for the challenges and the blessings He has visited upon us.
