Day 10 – Our day started with a BANG … literally. Christian did the honours of lighting firecrackers in celebration of the birthdays of two parent chaperones – Mr. Wagner and Mr. Ward. After a relaxing morning at the compound, we headed out for church. The service was livelier than what we are used to, and the presence of the Holy Spirit was evident in the way they openly worshipped.
We visited the market again, but we only had a limited time to shop. Everyone was racing around to buy the souvenirs that they had seen the weekend before for themselves and their families. After shopping, our Global Shore team took us to a fancy restaurant on the top of a hill. Although it was a late lunch, we were able to relax and again celebrate Mr. Ward and Mr. Wagner’s birthdays. The place where we were eating was surrounded by an art museum, and while we waited for our table, we explored native Guatemalan art. What made the restaurant even more interesting is that it was surrounded by volcanoes and gave an excellent view!!!
Tonight, we will head to the airport for 24 hours of travel back to Canada. Although we are sad to leave this beautiful country, we are excited to return home to share stories with everyone who has supported us. Thanks for following our trip, and we hope you enjoyed reading the blogs!

Day 11 – Well, they all thought it was early when we got up daily for 6:30 a.m. breakfast, but our first flight was at 1:05 a.m. today! We said our final goodbyes and left for the airport by 9:00 p.m. Thankfully, we had an amazing woman who checked in all 17 of us and our 18 bags very quickly and smoothly. The rest of the border security process flowed easily into the boarding area as well.
Our biggest concern was clearing the U.S. Customs and Border Protection process in Washington, D.C. as we only had a 2-hour layover. However, we serve a faithful God who provided another border agent to help expedite the process. Thank you to everyone who has been praying. We have been very blessed by God’s hand at work in and through us over the last 10 days.
We have arrived in Toronto and are taking the UPS (Union Pearson Express) train down to Union Station. We are all excited to go home. Even though our train leaves Toronto at 5:22 p.m. and gets in to Windsor at 10:00 p.m., much of the pressure is off, and we are able to relax for this last leg of our journey. Thank you for following our blog and our trip. We pray that God will use it to encourage and challenge you too.
