Johanna Van Rooyen

Student Support Services | Cooperative Education/OYAP Coordinator
World History | Business

Johanna grew up in Leamington, Ont. where she was actively involved in the local Pentecostal church and dreamed of one day teaching history. In 2010, that dream became a reality when she was hired at Maranatha to teach the senior history courses. Since then, she has developed the business courses, the Learning Support role and the Cooperative Education Program.

Her favourite part of teaching is seeing students overcome barriers and prove to themselves they can be successful when given the tools and motivation to do so, while relying on the strength that only God can provide. This happens in so many places and ways, both big and small, but it is always inspiring.

Johanna loves travelling and spent many summers exploring various areas of Europe before having kids. She currently attends Ambassador Community Church with her husband and young children.

Fun fact: Johanna is married to one of the seven members of Maranatha’s first high school graduating class.
