John 17:3 declares, “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

This verse clearly defines that eternal life is not merely living forever or escaping hell, but it is having a personal relationship with God Himself. When I first came to understand this truth, it helped frame my faith and my identity within a whole new purpose. Whenever I learn about God’s world, whether it be in science and math—for which I am trained—or in my hobbies such as playing the piano, uncovering history, writing fiction novels or in one of my truest passions—studying God’s word—I am encountering the living God and building a relationship with Him.

My role as both a father and as a Christian educator is to pass on this zeal for pursuing God in every avenue of life. I hope to point the next generation in the direction of the Holy, Loving Savior that purchased His Church and is sanctifying it until His eventual return, in glory and power.
