Day 10 Travel Day Back January 2026

Sunrise to Sunset

As we lifted off the ground in Guatemala, we rose through the clouds with the early morning sun. However, our day began much earlier than that. Knocking on doors and turning on lights helped to get everybody up at 2:00 AM. We weighed and counted all our luggage and then trundled down the hill to meet the van and the bus that would take all of us to the airport. With the help of a gracious ticket agent, we were able to get all our luggage checked and then clear customs with time to spare. The sunrise over the clouds was the icing on the cake.

When we landed in Dallas, the unknown of US customs loomed as we left the plane and walked through the halls towards the agents. However, we were able to clear customs smoothly as well. God walked ahead of us today. The only excitement came when one of the students discovered that his suitcase had lost a wheel and gained a few bruises. So we took pictures to submit for a claim. One of Mr. Fuller’s cases failed to appear, but when we checked, they told us that it had somehow gone straight through to Detroit.

Everyone was clearly tired as we walked around the Concourse A halls of the Dallas terminal, but we were also in good spirits with the promise of home on the horizon. Once we boarded the plane, it took off with the sun setting behind us creating an incredible assortment of colours. Two hours and twenty minutes later, at precisely 8:46 PM local time, we landed in Detroit.

Happiness and smiles blended as students and parents connected around the carousel and waited for the cases to be delivered. Not only were the cases all there (including Mr. Fuller’s delinquent case and Tyler’s damaged one), but all the students were delivered to the parents and into the vehicles that came for them. Now, it is time to sleep for Semester Two is about to begin.

WELL DONE OUR GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANTS.

REMEMBER THE THINGS YOU LEARNED FROM GOD THESE LAST 10 DAYS.
