Our Mission Trip's Final Day
Today is the last day of our mission trip and we accomplished a lot more than we could have ever imagined through the power of the Lord.
Our last day started with spirit-filled devotions and worship that brought lots of tears to not only the students but the teachers and chaperones as well. It all began with the worship leader calling all of the “Canadians” to the center of the room so that we could be prayed over. The teachers gathered around us followed by the students and they began to pray over and embrace us. Many people cried tears of joy while also being sad to leave.
The rest of the morning carried on with our usual tasks of painting, wiring, English classes, and a medical clinic. In all, 338 patients were tended to and provided with appropriate multivitamins and medicines as needed – this was a lot more patients than the medical team had anticipated. Regardless of the challenges that were faced by the medical team, through God, they were able to treat everyone they saw. The painting team was highly successful, completing the two rooms in need of painting as well as two additional bathrooms. The tech team did a great job in establishing a new efficient network of internet for the school. The English team was able to build a connection with many students while aiding in growing their English skills.
For lunch, we went to a fancy restaurant in Antigua. On our way we walked through the grounds of its garden art gallery. Students took the opportunity to take many pictures during the walk. The restaurant had an astonishing view of not one but three volcanoes. The food was also fantastic. After our meal we drove down to the markets where we did some final shopping.
The day ended with a campfire and worship. We shared our experiences from throughout the week, taking the opportunity to share what God has done in our lives the past nine days. We won’t get into details because we don’t want to spoil our stories for parents, supporters, and students back in Canada.
On behalf of the MCA mission team, we would like to thank God, our donors, Blake (mission coordinator), Julliana (GSO executive director), Willi (driver), Bennys (chef), Pastor Luis, Pastor Danny, and everybody else in Guatemala at Colegio Cristiano Avivando el Fuego (Fanning the Flame Christian School) and those back home in Canada who have supported us through our trip. We wouldn’t be able to do this without you.
