The Cross and the Holy Spirit
Today was a day filled with adventure and exploration. We started off the morning by heading to the Cerro de la Cruz, where we saw an amazing view of the cross that overlooked the beautiful city of Antigua below. After many pictures, we toured into the city and learned more about its history. Our GSO contact, Blake, led us into one of the last convents built in Antigua named Capuchin. We took an awesome panorama video standing in the doorways of the rooms where nuns prayed and fasted. Each room in the convent was unique and beautiful, having its own purpose.
Lunch was a very special treat at the Luna de Miel. This restaurant served us amazing savoury and sweet crepes as well as fresh smoothies. After this, we did some shopping in the busy market, exercising our bargaining skills.
When we got back to the Casa, we all dressed in our Sunday best as we prepared for evening church service at La Gloria Que Impacta. The Holy Spirit was strongly evident as the people worshipped freely with their whole hearts. The message following worship, taught us how worship needs to be a part of our whole lives. The pastor backed his message with multiple stories from scripture, showing the true power of worship. Worship can break down prison walls (Acts 16:25-26) and win victories that seem impossible (II Chronicles 20). Jail doors might be symbolic of the depression, low self-esteem, jealousy, and arguments in our lives. Instead of complaining and feeling helpless we should turn to God in worship. He listens to our worship and there is power in worship. At the end of the service, we were invited into a time of more worship through song and praise, bringing the night to a spirit-filled end.
