Day 02 January 2026

Strength in Christ

Today was the second day in Guatemala and we got to sleep in since breakfast was at 7am this morning. For breakfast we had juicy cantaloupe, pineapple and sausages. Then we got ready for the hike, packed our burritos for lunch made by Bennys our “chef”. We all got packed into the bus and prepared for the 1 hour and 30 minute ride to the Volcano Pacaya.

When we arrived at the volcano, many of us felt very confident but after 5 minutes of climbing Volcano Pacaya, I think a lot of us felt defeated and tired (except Vincent of course). But after we started talking with each other, we started to rely on and ask the Lord for help and we were able to conquer the tiredness. After reaching the top, all of us felt victorious and were in awe of how beautiful the volcano and nature are in Guatemala. It reminded us about how beautiful and creative God is. We ate our burritos, and the boys threw rocks before we walked down which was a WHOLE lot easier than walking up. We got packed into the bus again for the ride back to the Casa.

After we got back to the Casa, ate dinner and saw the beautiful sunset, we joined a youth event. During this event we met many new individuals who are part of the GSO ministry community.  We played a detective game, a ninja game, and then heard from Mr. Konrad the founder of GSO. He shared his testimony and how God founded GSO through him. It was very touching and a huge takeaway was that everything we need is found in Christ and God is generationally faithful which was a great and beautiful reminder. He also reminded us that God has plans for us that we often can’t imagine until they come true.

At the end of Mr. Konrad’s testimony, we had chips and pop. Then we went down to the dinner table and played board/card games with our friends and had good conversations with all our classmates. Then it was time for bed! Goodnight Guatemala!!
