Yes, Maranatha has a fantastic Music program! Students begin their formal music education in Grade one. Every student in Grades one through eight takes Music as part of their curriculum. In high school, students have the option to take concert band from Grades nine through twelve. There is also an extra curricular high school choir.
As part of the music program, students in Grades one through six sing in a choir, while Grades seven and eight play in a concert band. All of our musical ensembles perform several times during the year at school functions like our annual Christmas concert. In addition, our choirs compete in the Kiwanis Music Festival annually and our bands in Regional MusicFest. Our choirs and bands have won numerous awards at these competitions. Most recently, our high school choir won a scholarship at the 2013 Kiwanis Music Festival and was recommended by the adjudicator to move on to the provincial festival!
