High School May 7-11, 2018

Triumph! Our soccer team won their first play off game against UMEI. Perseverance and team work paid off as Jacob Canji (2) , Stephen Xavier (1), and Jake Matte (1) scored the 4 goals that led us victory.

Our “small but mighty” high school choir traveled to Grimsby to participate in the Ontario Christian High School Choral Festival (OCHSCF) on Friday last week, joining with 8 other Christian high school choirs. All the choirs had learned 6 new pieces before they got there, then together they rehearsed throughout the day to present a massed choir (330 voices) concert in the evening. The theme this year was “Amazing Love” and the variety of musical styles was diverse and inspiring. We all came away having experienced God’s amazing love through our billets, fellowship with each other and new friends as well as the music we shared. God is good!!

Various local youth pastors come in to speak to our students during our Monday morning devotions. Chris Eelman, from Harvest Bible Chapel, spoke with impact about living our lives with integrity. Later a student wrote this on the Panther’s Den door.

More hands-on learning happened this week. The Grade 11/12 Healthy Active Living course learned all about cycling and bike safety. On Wednesday they rode bikes across Windsor to the Bike Kitchen, a do-it-yourself bike repair shop run by Bike Windsor-Essex. The students learned how to check their bikes before they ride and about the many great volunteering opportunities at the Bike Kitchen. Over the next few days their biking tours continued. While many of us are still walking a little funny, we were all smiles after a great adventure on our bikes.

It’s almost SHOW TIME! Volunteers have built the set, the art class is painting it, and our actors are bustling to prepare their lines. “It Happens Every Summer” will be an excellent drama, which all in grades 4 to adult will enjoy! Plan to attend May 24, 25, 26. Tickets are available on Monday.

Our small class sizes enable lots of one-on-one learning. Our grade 10 math class ventured outdoors to enjoy the weather while completing their work.
